A really unique portrait - I like it! I especially like how the unique composition doesn't prevent the character and personality of the subject from coming through. The flower is a nice touch.
The lighting is great (especially in the eye), though I feel the highlight on the forehead is just a bit too yellow. I also like the canvas texture, though if you're really going for a "painterly" look, I think you could push the image a bit more by using the blur and smudge tools to blend your subject into the canvas.
