About First light in Monument Valley, Navajo Nation. A Navajo guide escorted us to this spot in the reservation before dawn. I can see why John Ford used this area as a backdrop for his Western genre films.

When I saw this I immediately though of John Ford, even before I read your discription of the scene. A beautiful landscape, great colors.

Sue, I think you're right. I believe I used Kodak VS 100 on this one. Good catch. I'll update the info. Thanks, Andrew.

Andrew, this is delicious! Beautifully captured! It's always worth it to get up at dawn for photography. During next year's trip to Utah, we're going to make sure we get further south to visit Monument Valley. How lovely!

Question: Was the filmtype really Velvia 100 back in 2001? Or is that a typo? Or was it Velvia 50 pushed to 100? Just nosy. :-)

Beautiful!! Was your guide Tom Phillips? If so, he's responsible for my "Pinch the Sun" in my portfolio. He showed me exactly where to place my tripod.

The colors in this one are astounding - well done - Bob T.

I love the color and lighting. Subject too. It almost looks unreal in it's perfection.
