I took this photo in that 5 minutes of light between dawn and day, adjustments to contrast, exposure and the like were done in the camera and again later in Photoshop. I almost threw this in the bin at first viewing. I was really only trying various camera settings as part of the ongoing "learning curve" required for this camera.
Located in the gold rush town of Bendigo in Victoria Australia. This is a very impresive building. Work first commenced on the cathedral in 1896 and it was officially consecrated in 1977 eighty years later. The height of the main Sacred Heart Cathedral spire is 86.64 metres (284 feet). Not bad for a small town in the bush.
This building was started in 1896 and never fully completed as originally designed,, the tall spire was added in the mid 1970's. That's why it's a lighter colour than the rest of the building, nature has had 80 years to weather the rest of the stone.
Hi Colin - they had more money in Bendigo so they could build bigger and better - grin... See what you mean about the lighting - I think this would look great in sepia -then you could get better sky tones! But excellent as is! See email for more info re locket!
