You have to be very lucky with the weather, as I was, to get such a beautiful scene looking its best. Japan (where I live) is probably more like Hong Kong...

Thanks! This was a really beautiful village. I had a feeling that there might be some non-sanguine explanation of "slaughter" and it was nice to learn the truth.

BTW, here's more detail on the origins of the name of the place: "The name of Slaughter has no connection with blood but is derived from the old English word Slohtre meaning a muddy place, which it may once have been but not anymore." from http://www.places-to-go.org.uk/The_Slaughters.htm
That remids me of the Pennsylvania "Dutch" who were really Germans, "Dutch" being a corruption of "Deutsch" :-)
