I like the monochromatic effect at this level of the gray scale, particularly for this image.
While the original post is certainly excellent, I feel that this gives a more mystical quality to your subjects. They seem together and alone at the same time. A real classic.
I think the vortex-helation type effect I see on the left side of the screen is probably a by-product of compression to jpeg. So, a higher res image should be more acceptible for printing purposes.

Wow! Good eye Markus. Checking the master I see no sign at all. The original was resized in a different manner than this desaturated version was and I'm certain the compression here has caused me some issues. I assumed, and clearly incorrectly, that the lack of color would result in an image that would be easier to compress and just did a simple re-size save for web deal which apparently is not a good way to go. Still, I didn't notice it or would have dealt with it at the time. Thanks so much for pointing it out! By the way - it's not an issue with the color version which is why your desat version looks so much smoother. So yes . . . I can see a difference and yes . . . the color is better anyway! :)

A wonderful image, Doyle, of great mood and expression. What interests me technically are the clearly be seen concentric circles in the sky. It is not so obvious in the original color version, but seems to me a problem of compression. I have downloaded the original (which I prefer, btw) and removed the color and the circles almost can't be seen. Can you see the difference or is it my screen.
Regards, Markus

Oh Sheila . . . look who's being funny now! ;) I far prefer the earlier version (http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1123118) . . . whether it looks fake or not (as suggested by some of those who hate any visible trace of PS work). I think I have to please myself first . . . the rest will have to sort themselves out as they see fit! :)

Beautiful dreamy dark image full of mood. That shoreline sure provides you with good photoopportunities that you have the eyes for catching! (I suddenly thought of a lizzard moving into the peaceful photo and eating the people with its long tung - that must be the word catching that trickered that in me - sorry for being weird now!) All the best Annemette

To me dear friend looks like a symbolic photo-art more than seascape, I hope you do not mind if I mention this way! I adore the image sincerely and I will add to my collection! It illustrates a dramatic view regarding to the perspective and the way the mother and daughter are walking to! To an emptiness world or perhaps walking into a strange future! Regarding to my taste it is a terrific image! Well done 7+ Best regards: Maxime
