The noise was not deliberate, but was the fog. Might look into the Noise Ninja, if I ever get time away from work.

Hi Marlyce, Beautiful seascape post you have here :) The noise levels seems a bit on the higher side, I guess ISO 800 + or in postprossing :) there is a good software known as 'Noise Ninja' for correcting the noise. Is it deliberate?
Cheers loved looking at this post :)

Thank you Sheila. I really love this shot and have planned to print and frame for the wall in the house....if I can find spare space to hang it.

Thank you Doyle---always my strongest supporter in everything, however, even more so in this new hobby which I know nothing about---unless you are just trying to keep me away from your "toys" like filters, etc.I do happen to agree 100% with you that this is my best shot yet.

Dear Marlyce, very impressive sunset photo. But clouds (sky) are too noisy and are not necessary for composition. Imho, you could crop most of the sky. The most interesting area of yours shot is wet sand at foreground, so you can crop... Warm regards, Serge

MQ: Wondrous colors, composition and the reflection in the curving, reflective wet sand area is awesome. Perfect colors, very well saturated and the divirging waves, as Hugo mentioned really make a good impact! While Chris Boivin made some suggestions; the use of an ND filter and longer exposure, the fact is that they may produce a nice, pleasing image . . . but it will be a completely different image, with smooth, less focused waves. As he stated . . . it's a different effect and something to consider . . . not technically a critique of your work here. Miles makes a comment much along the same line. My comment is that those suggestions may make for a great shot . . . but will definitely make a different shot. I happen to like the crisp focus in this one. Were you to have a stationary focal object . . . a bird, pier or fisherman . . . then the softened water might be nice. Without that, I think (IMO) that losing focus by softening this sharp image without any other focal point might make the whole composition feel too soft (and unfocused). I think this may be your best shot yet!

Thank you Hugo. You are right about the primary subject, my problem with that was the birds were to fast and the ship was to far away and yet the light and surf were in the right place. Marlyce

Nice sunset beach scene... but... very very noisey image. This would have looked lovely with the camera on a tripod, at a low ISO setting, F11 or smaller to get front to back sharpness, let the shutter speed take care of itself using Aperture priority mode, and using an ND Grad filter to keep the sky from being burned out. Oh yes... and a remote release to prevent camera movement at the slower shutter speed... LOL, has that filled up your camera bag a little with extras to carry?

Hi Marlyce,
The curves in front of the photo does it for me. Very moody, and very well captured. Nice diverging lines in the waves and beach towards the right, too. The only thing I can really think of is the lack of a single primary subject to grab and hold the viewers' attention; I think that would add the icing on the cake. Fantastic lighting, though.
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Marlyce, This is a wonderful image great composition, lighting and colours. Since you have put this in the critiquer's corner I will offer you a suggestion. Try the same shot using a ND filter with a longer exposure. This could make the colours even bolder and the water will become smoother looking. It's a different effect but may look nice for this scene. I also like the effect the fog is having on the sky and horizon. Well done, Chris
