The only nit I have (and it's so minor that you shouldn't worry about it) is that part of the hair is cropped out at the top. This kind of "fuzz" is so wispy and it's nice to see the tips of it

I am not surprised you used a lens such as this. The sharpness and quality looks too good to be anything other than a top quality prime. I think that is the lens to get if you do alot of portrait work.

Andrew, I went back and checked my image data and I goofed! This image was shot with the 85mm f1.8 Nikkor lens.
At that time I was using the 28-105 a lot and I just assumed....

Thomas I have children and have taken many snaps of them, but this one here looks more natural and warm than all of mine. I think it is the close up view of the baby, plus the wonderful expression of wonder. Did you shoot at 200mm for this one? It looks like the baby is really comfortable and at ease here, and usually this means that you have given the baby a little breathing space. The background looks nice with that little bit of burning in. Better than a plain background. I just love the pose, the eyes, and the little cute mouth. It is great! The kind of photo a mother (or father!!!) would absolutely love and cherish.
