Foot stompin' music? Sounds like she's a fiddler after all. YOu'll need to drag an Oak stump into your studio for your next session I guess. Careful on that new floor!(once it's done)

Hey Bob...well admittedly this image was more for me and to add variety to the session. I'll post a more high energy type 'fiddling' image from the session soon. The new CD is called 'Cracker Jack' and is fairly high energy foot stompin music. She's doing very well for an 18 year old. You may remember her from images I posted last year on Photosig. This will be her second CD. Thanks for the comments.

The Square format is being use to excellent effect here. It's really a lovely portrait of this young violinist and her instrument. You've got a nice lack of glare on the violin too. Not easy to achieve. The backdrop style/color is quite nice and works well with the wardrobe colors and the violin.
Two thoughts...where are the catchlights and "what if" the column didn't have space above it? I know you would lose your square unless you have more "photo" below the bottom crop. If not, keep the square, the space isn't really a big problem. Just a thought for future reference.
Just read some of the other comments and agree with Karen about the background focus which I see you are going to address along with the catchlights. The column works here. It adds a classical theme which tells me she's NOT a fiddle player. (no flames from all you fiddle players please!) If she IS a fiddle player then that column should be an Oak tree. ;-)
Just curious, what type of music is on her new CD?

Thanks for all the comments. This is a work in progress. I'll blur the BG and add catch lights and straighten if she indeed chooses this shot. I liked the expression and mood. Tomorrow I'll upload a more 'energetic' one from the session. I don't usually use the column but thought I'd give it a go for something different. Thanks again!

Louise,
Great portrait. I love the composition. Possibly, the only thing missing is maybe some catchlight/detail in the eyes. Otherwise, an excellent image.

This is great. Love the pose, great color scheme, well blended and nicely lit. My only suggestion would be if the background were a bit more out of focus.

A new CD, eh? Here I thought it was a senior portrait. The background complements the violin well. Lighting is good.
I just don't get the column. I know a lot of folks use them, but they just seem out of place in most photos. This one is tilting a bit. Well, maybe it's not. It looks tilted but then the sides look straight. Probably because of the angle of the bow.
I'd straighten the image so that it's visually straight rather than by measuring the distance. CCW just a smidgen. Make sense? Especially when this will be in a jewel box and not have any mat to separate it from its surroundings.
