Thanks for the comments!
@ Roman:
The corn syrup I bought was already in liquid form... I put in on a piece of glass and then placed in on two chairs about 3 feet from the ground. I put some coloured fabric on the ground and lit it with two lamps. This was the result. I'm looking forward to trying it again!

Very interesting abstract. Excellent color saturation and good composition. What did you use as the translucent base for the syrup?

Beautiful warmth just radiates from this, and the fact that it's vaguely sun-shaped only adds to that impression - like it's on fire! Not much I can add here but to say I like it a lot! I can't decide whether I think the droplets between the lines of the spiral detract or not...

Hi Kim, Love this, I see you are using velvia too. One day soon
I'm gonna beg borrow or steal a film camera. In the meantime, I might
try and paint this, if you don't mind. If it turns out okay I'll send you
a photo of the painting of the photo!
H:)

Okay... I'm on this one! Terrific idea and lovely warm color. I'm just wondering why it's a bit soft in the top left. Seems to me this should be tack sharp all the way through.

Super cool! Brilliant and sweet!

Hee . . . I was going to nit about the softness wandering into the left quarter of the photo, but since you already know that . . . In all honesty, it's pretty good for a +3 macro.

I love this, but you know that from the last slideshow. ;) Your choice of light and background work really well. Next time maybe try putting the brightest part of the fabric/lighting at the center of the sun and you might get more of an eminating/glowing effect. But again, small nit for an otherwise keen photo.

hmm. now if I could only type properly...
that was a NOT, not nto.
a tongue twister for you!

Kim Culbert   {K:37070} 2/17/2004
Stefan, nto really backlit, so to speak, but the coloured fabric on the ground is lit with two lights, and the corn syrup on the glass is about 3 feet above it. I wish that the DOF was constant, but I'll keep trying!

Thanks for the comments so far!!

It is a sun alright. Incredible color you are getting here. On top of that this has an "inner glow" to it. I'm assuming it is backlit?
