Outstanding capture Robert: your subject and his perch in dof focus, just the right blurred background, and a delightfully simple palette of colors. What 'grabs me' is the composition with the curves, especially those antennae. How did you get him to 'professionally' pose for you? Excellent image ... good show!!!

Your use of chromatic light, both in the filter-like panes and as spilled light rendered on the floor, dramatically marks the slightly off-center VP (vanishing point) which locates the light source, making a complex presentation of forms appear geometrically simple. Masterful Señor Paul! I’d place this image at the end of a long hall I need people to walk through, sure that they will be alluringly attracted to it.

There's a photo-story here: the steps marked in sand tells us the woman changed course to wade into the cool water, she stands still amidst the breaking waves, while the warm bright light above left breaks the symmetry. The frame makes it work for me, it's as if I'm peeking out from a stained-glass window. Nicely put together Doyle!

Roby: Il vostro straordinario complimento, venente da un padrone padrone della arte che tengo nell'alta stima (le tue foto son tutte belle), mi significo molto per me ... un alto onore ... un abbraccio più caldo!

This is absolutely beautiful: colors and the slow movement of water you've captured estimulate meditation and tranquility. I am much impressed!

I notice a recurring theme in your images: expressive eyes. In remembering that dogs emulate their masters, I hypothesize you must have very expressive eyes. Only when one's mind and spirit is open to a feeling can one feel thus. You are, therefore, certainly capable of empathic communication with children and animals. On an artistic level, this image attracts me with its color palette, its composition, and the choice of the deep brown eyes and round nose triangle that projects a simple and attractive form. Great work Susie!

A pleasant combination of color and movement, with contrasting reflections in the water and ripples that accentuate the movement that your image has frozen in time. You caught the light at the right time (angle), thus avoiding detracting shadows. Very well done Mohamed.

Beautiful simplicity, fluorescent colors, a perfect expression of photography as "rendered light." Wonderful work my friend.

The following comment by Ann Nida (dated 2/21/2006 12:17:36 PM GMT) was forwarded to me. I wish to add my congrats to you for FC and a prominent display of your excellent image on UF's front page.

Comment: Just found this little gem on the front page. Congratulations Kathy for making the front page critique. Also congrats to Gabriel for getting you there with her critique. This is a lovely peek-a-boo image. Beautiful depth of field used here to get the berries nice and sharp and the barn just a tad soft. Lovely balamce of colour throughout. A beautiful image. Always great to see a friend on the front page. Congrats again. Cheers - Ann

Charming face ... I'm in love! I find the focus and detail in the eyes particularly effective - such depth! The result is I am enticed to keep staring into them, mesmerized, wanting to know what is it (...in that little girl's mind) that makes her expression wonderstruck. Wonderful capture Susie.

I just love the way you've restricted your dof to the foreground, making the barns more blurry, presented like a faded backdrop, which fits the fact they are relatively farther away, therefore accentuating that the viewer is looking up close -- into those blueberry branches that have the detail that needs focus. Moreover, the barns increase the depth perception. Such a pleasant combination of form, color and composition. I like it!

I am attracted to this image in several ways: the contrast between the snowed hills in the background (a relatively short distance away) against the grounds that surround the barn, the green pasture versus the greenish mossy face of the barn, and the tall leafy evergreen and the right versus the scraggly set on the left. A work of art Kathy.

How simply well you have captured this 'negative' curve (meaning the curve is defined more by light than by dark). A pleasant combination of forms and textures: blue sky backdrop, a variety of puffy clouds, the striated façade, and the thin light poles. Very nice indeed.

You have inspired me with your choice of words, thoughts that go so well with this image Mohamed. The endless variety, the diversity of living organisms relate -- as you have so eloquently expressed. You have a good eye for color, form and composition. Well done my friend.

Charming. It brings to mind my tendency to single out features in a face that call my attention to the point of forgetting everything else. You've effectively used color to accentuate luxuriant facial elements that remain indelible first impressions. And the blue eyes together with the pinkish-red variations go well together. Extraordinary talent Susie .... and a pleasure to look at with satisfying delight.

An attractive combination of shapes with earth colors; and of course the blue sky and the green are one of my favorite combinations. Well chosen VP (Vanishing Point) marked in the third by a small green patch, and perfect focus on the bench-mark post that stands out in faded neutrals. I have so often admired your empathic eye for children's faces, but this landscape shows you are multi-talented. I am so delighted to have some time to enjoy the images you publish at UF. Hugs Susie!

Ciao!

You show more quality in your images than your experience would indicate: This one has a deep theme, beautiful combination of colors that sustain it (Thesis, anti-thesis, synthesis!), very good dof (depth of field), angle of capture and composition. You should be feeling like "one of us" only too soon ... great photo Paulette .. show us more! ...Gab

I am absolutely fascinated with this image, how well you've captured the detail that shows the wear and tear of many, MANY years: weathering, use, maintenance (i.e. re-painting or re-varnishing or re-oiling?) Love the combination of wood with the metal hardware, how age has affected the detail in such diverse ways ... just fascinating!!! Great photographic work. ...Gab

This works just fine for me: visually by inviting me to the open pages that begin with the text "I Love You," followed with a graphically rendered heart, then with the rythm of the pages, then the leaf and the branch that tickles my imagination urging me to want to know more ... the composition with the VP (vanishing point) hidden on the far left adds to the suspense, and the warm color reinforces it all ... such nice work my friend ...Gab

Rusty delight! What an avalanche of memories you've precipitated. I loved my first bike, treasured it. Your image reminds me that the last time I saw it it was also rusty and worn, yet my eyes saw it as so beautiful, like your image, which makes this bike (because of the color) look so much more attractive (when it shouldn't) against the B&W surroundings ... Great PS work of masking and de-saturation Kathy ... You're an artist ...Gab
