Thank you all for your comments....he was just a serious fisherman...getting ready for his morning catch.

I think the ocean in the am is the most beautiful place in the world and offers so much for an aspiring photographer

Excellent, I love close up's of everyday items. You see them in a light you never do in normal everyday life.

Splendid and appealing composition! Very well done. Compliments!
Follow the Hugo de Wolf's advises or consult about Photoshop. You can do a lot of things with it.

Dude! i like the saturations!!! but to get that horable light out, ya need a polarizer!!! and use a ND 4 (Nutrel Density) filter cuts the light down but still keep coloures!!

1 Select the sky using either the magic wand or the colour selection tool
2 Copy the selected area (the sky) to a new layer
3 Set the mode to "multiply

-or-

4. use a PL filter...

Cheers,

Hugo

Good experiment with color. Engaging shot. Capturing the sky isn't easy. Sometimes the sky has to cooperate, and it often refuses to do so. Then again, sometimes you get lucky.

First of all, it's a nicely composed photo. You have nice detail in the water and decent detail on the beach, but the sky is a bit overexposed and appears mostly white when perhaps it should be a bit more colourful. Dusk shots are tricky like that - it's difficult to get a good exposure on both sky and land.

I'm not sure how you could tweak this photo in PS (perhaps others have some ideas), although I feel this photo is a little oversharpened/grainy. I would suggest -- if you live in this area -- maybe going back on a partial cloudy day when the light is more diffused. I would also suggest perhaps getting closer to your subject (i.e., couples/people on the beach) so they figure a little more prominently in the photo.

It's a good attempt - just start taking photos with different shutter speeds and apertures until you find which combination works best in which situation.

Heather I love this shot, especially since my Siberian Husky would never sit that attentive ;-)
I would almost say crop this pic square, I don't think the people at the other tables are really adding anything to the shot. Nice Job!

Might I suggest a cropping like the attached? I've left the dog's behind in at the cost of a including a bit of Bill's as well! I also took the liberty of trying to correct the tilt. Then cropped at a 4x5 aspect ratio in the portrait orientation. Let me know what you think.
