Here are a few changes I made to your picture, about 3 minutes of work in Photoshop. What did I do? Healing brush to clean up the debris on the petals. I also used Levels to tweak the RGB channel to these settings. Black: 5, Midpoint: 93, White: 218

Rebecca,

I like what you are doing here but the image will be far stronger if you gake a few minutes to clean the dust specs of the petals and then pull adjust the Levels to make the image 'pop'. Right now the picture is too flat.

I like the idea and really enjoy the way you captured it. I think the image could be improved by increasing the distance between the main light to eliminate the vignetting that is occurring in the lower corners of the image. As currently seen the strong shadow competes with the smoke for the viewer?s attention. By diffusing the light you will create a softer, cleaner looking shadow that will accentuate the image. You can also use a white reflector to bounce light onto the shadowed area of the ashtray, which will open-up your shadows and further soften that shadow.

great tonal range and density. your composition is stronger because of the DoF you chose to use. beautiful piece of work.

Lisa is looking great once again. IMHO, the jacket she is wearing doesn't work very well against the background. I would put her in something that would compliment the faded jeans she is wearing. I like the progress you are making.that would s

Kevin,

upon close inspection I can see the dark storm clouds in the back ground. This is an incredible image. I would love to see a much LARGER version, something around 20" wide.

the lighting is very nice. I can imagine the clouds opening up to light this beautiful scene. Try adjusting the contrast a little to make the clouds stand out a little more.

I can envision a rope leading from the man's hand to a spot near the cabin of the machine like he is taking it for a walk.

Nice shot. I like the light and the grain, it adds to the personality of the image

Roger,

I am a self professing addict that has been dreaming up ideas for a photo series - I LOVE what you have done with this shot. You've given me a few ideas to work on. Are shots like this done on location or is this set up in your studio?

Excellent lighting, surpurb color. Is the graffiti on the table a subliminal message to all of us? In this image, I agree with you...YOU RULE!

Great work,
Eric

Incredible interpretation of the sport. It looks as though the picture could have been taken on the sidelines during a game. Nice job. I will keep an eye out for your work.

not only is a colorful plate providing the brilliant colors in the water, it is a plate with T I double GGG ER...TIGGER on the surface. Great capture, Dan. I would love to know what type of equipment you use to trigger the shutter. Is it sound or motion activated?

I think Tigger adds to the value of the picture because the water droplet looks springy and bouncy.

great work

The way the DOF, perspective and lighting work together to create this image it looks like a scene out of the old puppet-animation T.V. show "Thunderbirds". It looks as though you used a gradient filter to create that bizarre lighting. If I were you, Warner, I would use PS to edit out the dust specs in the clouds and finger smudge in the upper-right corner.

this picture is hillarious. I can't tell you the number of times I have been given the same type of look from one of my cats. I figure that the only way the Patrick could look any more displeased with you is if it were raining. (an idea for another idea for a funny picture at Patrick's expense)

excellent picture, Andrew. I love the design of the Dome. You have beautifully caputured a great addition to the skyline along the Thames. I just hope that they don't destroy this fabulous building. Aside from being home of the largest attempted jewel theft in history and being part of a 007 movie, it has a lot more to offer. I only hope that I will be able to soon able return to London to photograph the Dome again, and that it is under new ownership. By then, maybe the renovations of the Battersea Power Station will be completed and I will be able to spend a few days photographing one of my favorite cities.

Very nice photo of the Dome. I love the reflections.

at first glance it appears that this picture was taken with a Diana or a pinhole camera. I don't know if you were going for that effect, but I like it.

the emotion of this image would have been completely lost if it were in color. The DOF is excellent. I love the detail of the water droplets coming from her left hand and the out of focus spashes the droplets are creating on the water surface.

VERY WELL DONE!

when I first viewed this image in the gallery, I thought it was a piece of glass frozen over with ice crystals...then I see the full size image and realize that it is grass. WOW!!! Incredible! Nicely done, Roy.
