Conrats for the EC. I think it's high time you receivedone for one of your excellent bird photos.
The above one is as good as the EC. except that his feet are not muddy.
Thank you for your kind words about my "Memories from Kurdistan 4." You can see me twice on the left side of the photo. On the right is another MD, a friend whom I replaced and I think you can see the relief on his face knowing that he is being replaced. Unfortunately he fell in the October War of 1973 when, flying out to help wounded, his helicopter was shot down.
Nevertheless, best regards,
Rafi

Thanks Karel, this is actually a landing, they come down much harder then ducks do, I had one where the feet were out, but I liked the water effect here, maybe a mistake....

Didnt realise a landing would give such a splash, or is it a take off? Anyway great material for the eye!!

Marcus Armani Marcus Armani   {K:36599} 3/8/2005
Thanks kelly, typically for birds in flight I try to use atleast twice my focal length for shutter speed to keep wing blur to a minimum. this was i believe 1000 at F/8, as I usually keep the app from 5.6 to 8.0.. 5.6 for distant birds as the wide apperature will not give me a shallow DOF at that distance. 8.0 or higher for closeup as this will give me a longer DOF throughout the bird, where 5.6 would blur the wings of a up close bird....
