About My fist macro with my home made extension tube. 35-80mm canon lens. The extension tube is a rear lens cap and a body with the centers cut out. these are mounted at the ends of a 2" dia. rubber drain coupling. THe figures head is 1.5cm X 1.0cm

A fascinating effort. Where would we be if all we did was take the same shots over and over? Congrats to you for having an experimental mind, and sharing the results. The lighting and background may not be perfect, but the textures of the figure have been well captured.

Yeah I agree with the hotspot. It is distracting. I used a flash. I can't wait to try some of these macros out side with natural lighting.

Thank Dot! By moving the lens farther away from the camera you able to focus at a much closer distance to the subject. The lens I am using is a canon 35-80mm zoom. the zoom kinda acts like a focus control and the focus works as a fine focus. Try detaching your lens and holding it a few inches away from the camera body and see of you can focus on something small.

An interesting shot - I think the background or the hotspot on the head is too distracting and makes the shot a bit soft. I can see a great amount of detail here though. Good just for your FIRST shot Pat! Can't wait to see what more you will do.
