About The Cokin mirror filter worked pretty well on this image. The scanner hasn't really done this photo justice.I'm thinking of getting an Epsom 1200 Photo scanner, would anyone recommend it for scanning in slides and negatives?

On the scanner, check www.dcresource.com. Seems like they do not recommend any flat bed scanner for film. I could not find the Epson 1200 scanner in my B&H catalog so just assume it is a flat bed. The one they recommend is a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III for film and slides. The price seems to be around $300 in US.

I am not sure I should be so helpful ... your photos are so good ... not sure I will ever compete.

It's great to see that a CE4 is still going strong, I had a CM3 in the late 70's and loved it. Scanners, both Nikon & Minolta seem to be the most reliable and efficient but the PF 1800 sold by Jessops is also very good and relitively cheap. I use one of the latter myself.

That Cokin filter seems to do a good job but I am confused by the reflection.

Beautiful colors, neat effect. I think the polarizing filter is a little too drastic. Great shot overall though.

apparently it is too early for m sky at the top.e to see left and right - I meant right

  0

Greg Summers   {K:1115} 11/17/2002
The reflection attracted me - the left sky is a little over polarized for me - the refelction is gorgeous

  0

Barbara A. Novak   {K:306} 11/5/2002
ditto of all the above--the dark sky is very effective and really makes the colors sing

The 'filter' I used here is one of the Cokin series and it's called a Mirage filter. It is in fact a mirror that fits into the Cokin lense hood and seems to work best with shorter focal lengths.I think I probably used a 50mm. lense for this photo.
