Thanks for the positive feedback on the shot of my daughter Sarah. I had to see yours as well. Isn't the natural wonderment in the faces of our children such a facinating thing to capture? Great photo Andrew. You captured the moment!

I think I was about 80cm from her, approximately.

Absolutely beautiful Andrew. Quintessential, perfect use of natural window light. Very nice DOF.

So what was the distance between the girl and the camera?

She just turned 3 yesterday Sarah. Yeah Lukasz, I suppose if I was a little closer and tried for a close cropped macro I wouldn't have the same depth of field, but I wasn't too close because I wanted to include the window so it sort of worked better for me. Thanks for the comments!

I also often use 50mm lens for similiar portraits. What amazes me is f:2.0 that you used and the whole face is still fairly sharp. Wonderful picture!

Andrew, this is a lovely portrait. Some people say that the 50mm lens isn't the best for head/shoulder shots, but I have taken many similar pictures to this one, using the same lens and available light, and I think it works just fine. By the way, how old is your little girl? she looks a similar age to mine.
