what i am beginning to see in your images is a naturalness that is so refreshing. So, ok, maybe the boulder hangs out a little, maybe the sky should be more or less, birghter or darker..all these comments have validity, but what you demonstrate is your wide photographic embrace of your world, your passion and pleasure in the out of doors and for all that you see. i haven't seen much of your portfolio but what comes through is very enjoyable. i also discovered photography through my first digital camera almost 3 years ago. i think digital has awoken the sleeping artist that we put away so many years ago to raise families and pay for the 3br., 2car garage of young adulthood. Congrats for discovering your inner voice and may she sing long and loud!
i immediately saw what you wanted me to see here which makes this image successful. The rocks and the clouds strewn about their respective mediums, reflecting each other in size and disordered order. Once again, nice clarity and interesting subject. Best regards: kat~

Donna,
This is really beautiful country! You have done a wonderful job of capturing the stillness of the moment. As you have noted, the boulders compete with the clouds, however, I personally find the boulders a little more interesting. Possibly angling the camera down just a tad to put the sky in the top 1/3 or so of the frame would have given the benefit of the beautiful sky in the image, but not caused so much attention. Also, that last boulder in the far right frame kind of wanders out, you might think about cropping him out to keep the viewers eye central to the image. Overall, very well seen! I hope you have a chance to go back and take more!

Wow , wonderful clarity and tru color here, looks like a commercial pic and very dramatic contrasts . Id love to get this quality in my pix. as far as the sky, its fine here. just ads more depth color and contrast vs a tighter crop. Frame this one! Kenny

Wonderful landscape, beautiful colors... I also like the sky and the reflection of it in the water. Did you use a CP filter here? Maybe I'd like to see a bit (just a tiny bit) more contrast (or less luminositty?)... but still beautiful as it is.

Hi Donna, in my opinion this sky doesn't add a great contribution to the image. The horizon line positioned at 1/3 from the top would have certainly given greater dynamic effect to the image.

Thanks for the encouraging comments. To answer questions: No, I didn't use a filter - just a little adjusting with levels in ps. And yes, Graham, the water level was very low. It snowed before I left and hopefully that will be the beginning of bringing it back up.
