Hey, I like the image i have on film, it was cropped abit when i enlarged it, but as you can probably see there are quite a bit of scratches on the neg.. anyone wanna tell me how to fix these in photoshop? Im gonna reshoot it, and take the negs to a different lab, but any help before i post on my website would be great.
I think a more natural way to mask the scratches in PS would be to use the rubber clone/rubber stamp tool. It should be easy to cover the blemishes on this particular photo due to its simple colours and textures.
Choose the stamp tool and pick a soft, fairly large sized brush (you'll want a smaller brush to work on the star). Hold the brush very close to the place you want to mask, hold down the Alt key and click your mouse. Then paint over your scratch.
Of course, it's been awhile since you posted your request, so you've probably already figured it out! :) Let us know how it turns out.
I love the image and I have this thing about eroded sctrached things.. I just love stuff like that. So, I'd ask you to just keep it the way it is. BUT if you'd like to fix it simply capture the color with the eyedropper and with a brush simple cover over it or just soften it up on those spots. Hope that works for you! If you are having trouble doing that and you really do want to fix it up, I can do it for you :)
