About This guy was not afraid of the camera or me. He cooperated in a full photo session replete with my gently nudging him or tapping my finger within inches. At times, he would stand at the edge of the fencepost watching the dogs run back and forth, his little head cranking back and forth in time with their movements. In this image, I distracted him with a tap and he looked back at me, like "What!?" He's been around for the past week and is now considered one of the family. Hi to all my friends. I know it's been awhile, and I miss you. :)

Hi Toni!
Just popped by for a post and visit. I haven't been around much lately. Nice to see a few familiar faces still posting once in a while.
Nice mantis shot. They can be very photogenic sometimes. Funny you have it in the Fairies and Woodlands portflio. When they fly close by, they are as much like fairies as any other insect.
They do come in various shades of brown and green. I think it's an enviornmental thing. I'm not 100% sure, but I think they are a bit like chameleons, changing slowly depending on the surroundings.
I've been doing mostly Wildlife and Nature shots lately with a few other things every once in a while. Visit my site if you get a chance.
Talk to you later,
Andre

Great composition and DOF. He has posed well for you and the background really helps him standout. Excellent shot.

Thanks Sudeera. I grayed it down somewhat, but it was more yellowish from the sun to begin with -- no green. It is a tan or beige. I thought they were green too, but this one isn't!

Wonderful macro capture with great details.
Is it really gray in color? I thought Mantis are green and can't change its colors.
