Dear Jen this is this one of my dear Testudos ? Beatiful focused shot of such a beautiful animal. I love them so much,... why ? I have had 5 of them as a boy of 10. Finally I had to bring them all to the Zoo of Amersfoort (to retire) as starting my studies in Utrecht, living on my own in a too small room. The tortoises were called Yugi (after Yugoslavia), Zadi (after Zadar), Stari (after Starigrad) and honestly I do not remember the 2 I found in Greece during later holidays with my parents. It was all before the year (somewhere in the seventies) that these animals became protected species in Yugoslavia and Greece. Many hugs and kisses to you Jen, like I gave them to my tortoises :-)

That will make a nice soup or maybe a good stew.... ;) just kidding...:) I had a pet tortoise as a kid and I remember that it laid an egg.. did you put this one on the other side of the fence, maybe it will go back to the road if you didn't.. but if you did put it on the other side of the fence, he won't be able to go back to his friends and family... well what did you do Jen?? :) Very good about, now I now what crepuscular mean and that's not me.. regards..

Hi Jen, your remarks and info are quite correct. I remind me of a study that was done on tortoise numbers and biomass within the succelent thicket vegetation of the Estern Cape, SA (Port Elizabeth - East London areas). I am stating this under correction but the biomass of tortoise per hectare was estimated to range between 1 to 3 metric tons. It sounds very high but this type of vegetation in its natural state is almost impenetrable and it has a large component of succulent plants, often growing at ground level - lots of juicy food! Keep well! Joggie

Say cheeeeese! hahaha... the peaceful little turtle does not looks like interested about that big black thing (lens) that cames near to her and watch her like a big eye... but after that it's a lovely shot my friend... sometimes ugly turtles are really lovely... very nice wildlife shot. be well!

Lufs Jenxx

Hi Jen,You can help by being a good visitor to the desert! If you see a tortoise in the wild, do not disturb it. Observe it from a safe distance...en weer hebben het wij gisteren avond weer geflikt he,het was mij een avondje wel,ben gelijk na de wedstrijd de stad in gedoken om me te bezatten na een drukke werk week....:) fijn weekend nog, doegggggggggggggggggg, riny
