I find the B&W version stricter, stronger, tighter than the color version, Paul. It enhances the geometry and perspective from which this image seems to live. The DoF is big enough to allow a clear view of the whole range from the foreground to the background, and this adds further strength to the image. Looking at it I get appetite for seeing also the whole of the left monolith of the series and perhaps also the whole of the right one. I assume that such a strong series makes one wnating always more of it. It has a very contemplative nature as it stands there in dark tones and such a geometry against the light of the sky. Much like a monument to silence of thinking.
All the best,
Nick
