Location City -  Out in my back woods
State -  A BIT OF LAND IN ILLINOIS
Country - United States   United States
About She has a golden heart and the best of intentions. A few years back (close to 10) a wicked Illinois summer storm came rumbling and crashing through Bureau County. The next morning, while walking the woods, I found a tree had dropped over stone dead and snapped three lines of barbed wire fencing. "Hmmm," I thought to myself. "I better get my axe." Well, MM thought I was not moving fast enough and after 42 weeks she had enough of waiting for me and my axe to clear the fence line. She went out and bought me a chainsaw. Well, that story cut short... I will show you the tracery of scars on my left wrist some day. Eventually, I did cut the tree up enough to heave it off the fence. MM pulled the snapped lines as taut as she could and wrapped them around a post. Then she scampered off to the tack room and grabbed an extra bit of horse rope. She did her best Non-Popeye the Sailorman knot attempt and left it at that. Like I said earlier, it has been at least a decade since she tied this mess about the broken fence line to keep her horse in. I have left it. Not because I am too lazy to remove it and fix it proper (I love doing fence work and am quite good at it) but because everytime I walk by this bit of repair in my woods I smile and chuckle. I do love that woman.

And I believe it is pure fright that keeps the horse from clambering over this poor attempt to enclose.

Harry Chapin wrote about stuff like that. I mean, my words and such. In his song, "There Only Was One Choice" he said:

-- sing it kid
Just write about your feelings -- not the things you never did

I hold true to that. I don't make things up. I write my words from events in my life. Thanks for picking up on that.

The words are wonderful because they are true.

:) HUGE smile back at ya, Mia.

Yeah, we probably are. And that is the truth about this fencing mess. I leave it and love it.
