About
This is a steam engine that was used in the late 1890's to early 1900's. It was used in the mountains of Northern California for hauling out large red wood logs. It was narrow gage on tracks that were 3 feet apart. The engine had small wheels that were driven via a drive shaft by vertical steam cylinders. All wheels on the engine and tender were powered to increase pulling traction. The train was slow moving 10-12 miles per hour as the tracks traveled through mountain country. It was an Oil burning system for developing its steam.
