Well, I happen to like soft focus photos, depending on how they are done. I have a 'soft focus' attachment for my old Pentax...long before Lensbabies. Took many an interesting photo with that. Also, there's the cheap alternative of K-Y Jelly on a filter for all kinds of interesting effects.:)

With Lensbabies it's something that one needs to get used to. I really like the soft focus of their glass; not for everyone, I admit...
