I think the effect given; althought wasn't intended; gave the image a very intresting dramatic mood.
I think one should try somethings unusual to the ordinary classic rules of photography and he'll achieve surprisingly wonderful results.

The camera sure chose a long shutter speed in this night scene. Which is not surprising in this dimly lit place. No problem, Alison, as it had produced a unique effect.

It gives us an abstract view of the proceedings, Alison!
No matter what the setting and camera, for this type of shot you need a tripod or some other way to steady the camera, because of the low light.

i love images like this, with alot of blur, its different and makes the image look a bit more mysterious. the detail at the bottom of the image works well with the vast amount of black at the top.
