THE CONTEST’S RULES Participation conditions Any person can sign-up for the contest. In order to sign-up you have got to fill in a signing-up form which is available on the site IFAF and send the works until the 10th of July 2007 at photocontest@iraf.ro . The single themes: So keres? (How are you ?) SK Nomad’s life NL Roma traditions RT Poverty/ Richness PR The serie’s theme: Photo essay PE The participants can send a maximum of 7 photos for each single theme. For the photo reportage the participants are invited to send a series of 5 to 12 photos which illustrate an aspect of roma people’s life. The minimum recommended size is 2500 pixels for the large side and 300dpi, mut it is not an expelling rule. The photos can be sent at the mail address photo.contest@iraf.ro if each material is smaller than 10 MB. These should have at least 5 MP, JPG format. to sign up each participant must fill in a signing up form which is available on the site www.iraf.ro. The author must write down his personal data, a title and a description of each work(where, when, who).The name of the photo must contain the theme’s initials. For the photo reportage, these have to contain numbers in the order the author wants them to be. We don’t accept works that are modified on the computer. Calendar • Signing-up period: between the 9th of March and the 10th of July • Evaluation period: between the10th of July and the 10th of August • Annunciation of the winners: the 15th of August • The exhibition of the best 20 works: between the 31st of August and the 6th of September • Publishing and distributing for free the photo album: between the 1st of October and the 1st of November Evaluation: The evaluation will be made between the10th of July and the 10th of August. The members of the jury: Mihai Barbu (photo reporter Reuters), Cosmin Bumbut (photographer), Petrut Calinescu (Panos Pictures), Bogdan Croitoru (freelancer, National Geographic’s permanent collaborator), Silviu Ghetie (The Photo Group 7 Days), Marius Nemes (Photo reporter), Gicu Serban (The Photo Group 7 Days), Mihai Vasile (Chief Editor Mediafaxphoto). The annunciation of the winners will be made on the 15th of August on www.iraf.ro and personally through mail. The best photos will be exposed in 5 exhibitions (one for each theme) in Timisoara, between the 31st of August and the 6th of September and published in a photo album which will be distributed for free during and after the festival. The first, the second and the third award for the photo reportage theme will consist in photo apparatus in value of 1200,800 and 500 euros. The winners of the first and the second award for the other 4 sections will win photo accessories in value of 150 and 100 euros. Copyrights: The signed-up material must respect the copyrights law. The participant must own all the rights for the materials signed-up in the contest. The participant is the only responsible for any direct or indirect consequence that may appear for signing-up the material in this contest. The participants keep the copyrights. By completing the signing-up form the participants agree that the photos can be exposed and published in a photo album by the organizers of IRAF, with the mention of the author’s name. The organizers have the right to use the signed-up photos JUST for non-commercial purposes. The best works will be presented in exhibitions, published in an album which will be distributed for free and used in campaigns to promote the contest. The author’s name will always be mentioned. Confidentiality Policy: The participants’ personal data are confidential and will be used only for the normal activity of the contest.
