Not all DSLR Cameras get the same results, and not all Lenses also. I use the 20D with Sigma 18-50 3.5-5.6 DC with Hoya R72 Infrared Filter and the results are just fine. I usually use 15 secs sutter speed, aperture 5.6-6.3 (depends on the sunlight).

So you are saying it is possible and very much depends on the sun light and yr settings, right?
Thanks Mr. Mahmoud.. I give it a try.

It will require a filter to do, and not all DSLRs can do it. A good test is to point a TV remote into the lens and push and button while taking a picture. If the IR LED on the remote is lit up then your camera is sensitive enough to IR light to do the photography. You will need a IR filter though. If you get one, set your shot up and then put on the filter because the filter is almost black. You wont be able to see through it using the viewfinder. To have a shot come out, as Mahmoud said, will require long exposers and bright sunlight. With IR photography noon is actually the best time to shoot!

Vince:
I have taken some IR shots and I think it's a neat little thing to do for a different feel and a unique effect. I use the Hoya R72 IR filter and have used it on the Nikon D50 and the D200.
You'll not likely get any standard settings to use . . . they'll have to be adapted to the situation. I don't like to (and rarely do) shoot at noon. My Alondra IR shot at http://www.usefilm.com/image/1260796.html was taken early morning and I used an f/36 aperture for an 8 second exposure. I like to avoid noon so that shadows add depth to the image. Certainly consider bracketing your shots and doing test shots. The IR effect also varies from the type of plants -
Set up a good Desaturation flow method and adjust for light last. Most of all, just have fun, experiment, and you'll learn! :)

Hi Vince - I see you have a D70 - that will produce good IR photos with an IR filter.
