Alan, if you read my bio you'll see that most of my successful photos are happy accidents -- so I'm not sure I can advise on technique. This photo had the sun in the background, so I shot "down" toward the water, rather than into the sun -- if that helps. I usually have to compensate for the target image being too dark when shooting against the sun. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Maryanne, it looks like you had a nice day for being in the woods. I would like to know how to take this kind of picture and not have the bright background bleach the target image out?
