Richard,
this is very nice! I love the wild hair, and the HUGE eyes, beautiful. I also like the lighting alot. I find it a little too dark on the left side, but when i opened it bigger it seemed great. I like how it highlights her hair on the right side as well. Very nice shot!

Nice sghot, I think the B7W is a good choice. I wonder how it was before the softening, since I like more contrast in pictures.
Regards, Ohad

I think this expression is adorable by itself, and doesn't really need the burn across the left side. Maybe have the burned-in zone a bit narrower, so it begins to the left of her nose?

Great candid portrait of a beautiful little girl, full of character and the toning perfectly enhances the mood and her eyes.

Yes it seems unbelievable that this is not a montage (I have no reason to disbelieve you of course) - looks like the light near you was very different from that in the distance. Did you use the flash? The relative position of the two birds is truly amazing as well - no retakes for this shot! I think you may have a little dead space on the left side. As somebody already mentioned - the sharpness (and evenness of exposure) is also very good.

Richard wonderful expression here - full frame nice - I'm wondering a bit on ps on the possible contrast on her lip/nose - use of desaturate too? Definitely not a staged shot! A beautiful girl - keep doing what you do. Maybe a bit more open -- to add more tonal quality... will be checking back for more -- Nice work. Kind Regards, Cindi

More than a photograph of your daughter, this seems to be an image of her state of mind at this very moment. Perfect communication with you in that eye, right there and then.

Original framing . . . Maybe an advertising illustration with room for text on the right?

The "Looking Up" image probably owes its look to the Sigma 15 - 30 lens which gives dramatic perspective, even with a x1.5 factor for the D100. Here is the data from the EXIF file:

1/125 sec @ f5.6
ISO 200 (normal)
-0.3 EV (my usual setting, as an old slide shooter)
JPEG Fine setting (I don't find raw is worth the trouble for me)

Good luck with your new Canon.

This is outstanding!!!!!!! I love it. How did you do it? Perfect!!!!!!!! ~mandy
P>S I love the B/W and its perfect focal shot for a portrait if you can see the lights in their eyes it makes it ever more stunning for portraiture.

Excellant facial expression, composition, lighting, I love the white! The only thing I see from my actual training as a portrait photographer is sloppy hands and feet. She could do well to have her chest up a bit more too. She is a beautiful model!!!! I love using my children also even though I want to lean more towards nature photography, I'll always use my 3 girls!! Good job! ~ mandy

nice, soft expression.. cool background too, but the face is just a little too retouched to me, not very natural.. otherwise, it's a great picture
